Protective W22/23

The Protective CrossCountry collection was born in Winter 22/23 out of a desire to bridge the gap between fashion and outdoor performance. Conventional outdoor gear often sacrifices style for practicality, leaving outdoor enthusiasts with limited options that don’t reflect their personal sense of fashion.

Protective recognized this gap in the market and I was tasked with developing a collection that seamlessly combined both aspects. The main feature of this CrossCountry collection is the fusion of advanced materials and modern design. State-of-the-art fabrics designed for the rigors of CrossCountry touring are transformed into elegant and sophisticated garments. The collection offers a range of durable, water-repellent and breathable fabrics that ensure comfort and protection in any climate.

Regrading the collection theme we chose to create a collection that is all about their heritage and history. Combining nostalgic flair with futuristic thinking, the result is a unique, highly functional collection, that is both wild, radical, and unconventional.

They combine classic MX style elements from high speed dirt racing with the lifestyle and attitude of BMX street art of the 80s. And thus makes a statement for more individuality.

Gonso S20

GONSO – the German traditional brand already exists since 1979 and is since then specialized in perfect fit cycling shorts. The company founder Hans Gonser invented that time the first cycling shorts with a synthetic seat pad, and still inspires the GONSO team with his tireless zeal.

This traditional brand is appreciated by cyclists as a fit specialist, not only because they develop the cuts directly and themselves, but also because they offer nearly 40 different women’s and men’s sizes, as well as several short and long sizes.

The 2020 collection also included a very technical road bike collection with many details such as laser cut finishes, ultra-light fabrics, special reflective details, sharper cuts, etc….

Protective S22

Cruising on a 20-inch BMX bike with frayed jeans, a Walkman in your pocket and headphones blaring out „Another brick in the wall“ by Pink Floyd. In no other decade was the desire to „break the rules“ and and „just let go“ as great as in the 1980s.

PROTECTIVE’s 2022 summer collection takes up exactly this attitude towards life, this style as well as the originality, that embodied that time. As in the early days of BMX culture back then, for PROTECTIVE it’s less about performance or adhering to certain rules.

In 2022 they don’t swim with the flow again, but instead deliver the next highlight in bikewear innovation. It is a tribute to the 80s and 90s, the beginnings of PROTECTIVE.

Through a mix of innovative and sustainable technologies with designs from a unique past, they create a completely new collection that combines style and statement in equal measure.

Protective S21

After a successful brand relaunch, PROTECTIVE brings back the best of the archives for summer 2021 and combines traditional design approaches with innovative, sustainable materials and new orientations.

Rock the Ride is the motto of this collection, whose highlights include the Comic Capsule. The trend, which has already rocked the big runways in recent years, fits perfectly with the dynamic styles of the PROTECTIVE reorientation – loud, unconventional and with a certain wit.

Innovative fiber and material technologies such as ECONYL, TECTRON, T8ECOTEC, COFFEE or 5th ELEMENT keep the balance between performance and sustainability.

In the summer 2021 collection, a lot of freshness and courage was allowed to enter the designs. Loud, fashionable and young prints on the jerseys also drew the attention of younger buyers to the traditional company. Matching shorts in different fits rounded off this collection.

The detail-loving Swabians implemented edgy men’s styles and feminine lines for the ladies, and thus took a further step towards perfecting the gender-specific fits and looks.

In this collection I designed 15 styles completely new. They are both technical and playful to appeal to younger people who have a high demand for quality and sustainability in addition to the proven target group.
